We use Finite Element Analysis with extensive rig and endurance testing to make these 360 excavators last longer. Our advanced manufacturing and assembly processes produce high precision and quality assembled components. A new reinforced boom and dipper is made of high tensile strength steel, with three-piece wrapper plates; robust cast ends and pivot bosses make this new boom and dipper especially strong and durable. The high-strength undercarriage of JS205 tracked excavators is of a fully welded X-frame construction for long-term durability even in the most demanding applications, and the rigid upper frame provides maximum durability and support. Sloped side members stop material build-up. A closed box-section revolving frame increases strength and reduces stress on this 360 excavator. It’s also highly resistant to impact damage. The turret on JS205 tracked excavators is welded to both the upper and lower undercarriage frames, and stiff, durable doors provide further strength. For ultimate reliability, we construct our tracked excavators using only the very best componentry, including Berco running gear, Kawasaki pumps, Cummins engine and Kayaba main control valves.

The Tier 3-compliant 104kW Cummins 6BT engine uses a non-electronic inline fuel injection pump, maximising power and reliability under arduous operating conditions, even with poor quality fuel. A hefty 142kN bucket tearout and 94kN dipper tearout enable the JS205 tracked excavator to get any job done quickly, even in hard strata. Simultaneous tracking and excavating is smooth and fast with intuitive multifunction operation, and two operating work modes allow operators of these 360 excavators to optimise performance to either economy or power. JCB’s JS205 tracked excavator uses an advanced regenerative load sensing hydraulic system that only uses as much power as it requires. Optimised hydraulic pump settings and a revised spool configuration deliver the exact required oil flow, preventing wasted energy. The JS205 provides an extremely solid, stable work platform for fast cycle times.

Bonnets open and close easily with gas-assisted cylinders, and the JS205 tracked excavator’s service bays are large and wide for good access. JCB’s Plexus Oil Filter System extends hydraulic oil life to 5000hrs by filtering it to 2 microns, reducing risk of contamination. By using graphite impregnated bronze bushes, boom and dipper greasing intervals are 1000 hours for normal applications. Because they’re mounted side by side, the JS205 tracked excavator’s engine radiator, hydraulic cooler and intercooler can be serviced individually and cleaned easily. Replacing the air filter element of a JS205 is easy; a radial seal provides error-free sealing on installation. Meanwhile, wire mesh elements make for easy storage, handling and cleaning. The remaining filters on this JCB 360 excavator (engine oil, hydraulic oil and fuel) are centrally located for fast, easy servicing. To keep downtime to a minimum, the JS205 tracked excavator’s high capacity fuel pre-filter also acts as a water separator, catching dust and impurities and helping to avoid blockages in the main fuel filters.

JCB JS205 tracked excavators have a supremely comfortable operator environment, boasting a radio, music player, mobile charging point, spacious rear stowage box, bottle holder and file holder. An opening roof hatch and sliding rear window provide excellent ventilation. The JS205’s cab and controls are independently adjustable so that it’s easy for any excavator operator to find the perfect working position. Controls are light, intuitive and smooth, enhancing both comfort and productivity on this 360 excavator. We’ve fitted the JS205 with an all-day-comfy fully adjustable deluxe seat that boasts a sliding rail and hand recline rests. Air conditioning is available as an option on the JS205 tracked excavator. An air pre-cleaner assembly keeps dust particles out of the cab and reduces maintenance costs by increasing the life of the air filter and the engine

Cushioned boom and dipper ends prevent shock loadings, protect your tracked excavator, and increase operator comfort, while 6 viscous rubber mounts minimise noise and vibration. To keep everything under control, JCB JS205 360 excavators have a balanced slew and electronic/hydraulic controlled slew braking. A large floor area with large high grip pedals gives safe, easy and precise tracking. A 70/30 front screen split provides a clear view of the front right track, while a large laminated glass roof window makes this 360 excavator great for working at height. The distinctive low bonnet line makes for excellent rearward visibility too. To protect the machine from on-site damage, we’ve fitted under belly guards on the upper frame. Our optional damage protection plate and wear ribs on the dipper provide further peace of mind.   There are audio and visual alerts on the instrument panel of this tracked excavator so that operators are informed of low coolant level, clogged air filter or high hydraulic oil temperature.
